Self-Love

This is such an important topic that more people should be aware of. I was talking to a few of my girlfriends about it and we all shared how easy it can be to neglect self love whether it’s due to our busy every day lives or tending to the need of another. And while those are very important, self care sits above all.

When you take care of yourself physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually you become better equipped to help others. You become familiar with your capabilities therefore becoming more aware of how specifically you can help others. How can we save another when we are dying ourselves? It’s important to make sure that we are well before taking on another’s burden.

Here are a few ways to show yourself some love.

  1. Treat yourself. Spoil yourself to a mani/ pedi/ facial, massage, treat or event.

  2. Have alone time. Take out time to just be by yourself and reflect on your goals and accomplishments.

  3. Hygiene. Always remember to put on some perfume, do your hair and nails. These small things do wonders to a woman’s self-esteem.

  4. Be active. Take out time to go for a hike, run or to the gym.

  5. Do your makeup. There is something so satisfying about looking at your finished makeup and saying “Yeah, I did that!” Even if you do poorly, think of it as a unique work of art LOL.

  6. Focus on your best features: Instead of focusing on what you don’t have, look at yourself and identify the amazing parts you do. Go on a mini shopping spree (My absolute favorite) and buy things that will help accentuate your features. You will be amazed at how parts of your body stand out when you wear the right fit.

  7. Celebrate birthdays, accomplishments, etc. Make the effort to celebrate important dates and achievements. This acknowledges your hard work and encourages you to keep doing great things. also, treat your birthdays as a personal holiday and plan exciting things. this will allow you to look forward to it each year instead of dreading your new age.

  8. Be reminded of your worth. Never apologize for being who you are. Strive to be the best version of yourself and constantly learning how to be better.

These are just some ways to show yourself love and care. There’s no harm in helping and caring for others but no one will ever love you the way you can love yourself. Don’t be cocky or think that you are better than others, but rather be confident in who you are and in knowing that although companionship is nice you can love yourself.
